Overview
Bequest types are a way to categorize bequests. Super Admins can update bequest type labels or remove bequest types and their associated records permanently.
In this article, we’ll go over how to edit a bequest type and delete it from the system.
Edit a Bequest Type
First, locate the bequest type you want to update. Click the Name of the appropriate bequest type.
Click Edit Bequest Type in the top right.
Use the Name field to update the bequest type label.
You can also add or remove an additional field of information with the Additional Name Required box and Additional Name Label field. For more information, see the article Add a New Bequest.
Click Save Changes to update the bequest type. Any changes will be applied to bequests with that bequest type.
Inactivate or Activate a Bequest Type
To prevent a bequest type from appearing as an option going forward, mark it as inactive. This keeps existing bequests with the type the same while blocking future use.
First, locate the bequest type you want to make inactive. Click the Name of the appropriate bequest type.
Click Edit Bequest Type in the top right.
Uncheck the Active box. Click Save Changes.
The bequest type will have a Status of Inactive and no longer appear as an option for new bequests.
To activate a bequest type, check the Active box. Click Save Changes.
The bequest type will have a Status of Active and appear as an option for new bequests.
Delete a Bequest Type
Note: If you delete a bequest type in use, the Bequest Type field will become empty, making it more difficult to find and identify the bequest later.
First, locate the bequest type you want to remove. Click the Name of the appropriate bequest type.
Click Delete in the top right.
A confirmation window will open, click OK to permanently remove the bequest type.
